The Board of Education welcomes you to its meetings, which are regularly scheduled for the first and third Thursdays of the month. Regular Board Meetings shall be adjourned by 10:00 pm, unless extended to a specific time determined by a majority of the Board. This meeting may be extended no more than once and may be adjourned to a later date. V. INDIVIDUALS DESIRING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD
Public comment on any item of interest to the public that is within the Board’s jurisdiction will be heard. The Board may limit comments to no more than three (3) minutes for each agenda or non-agenda item; a total time for public
15 mins input on each item is 20 minutes, pursuant to Board Policy 9323. Public comment will also be allowed on each
specific action item prior to Board action thereon. This meeting of the Board of Education is a business meeting of the Board, conducted in public. Please note that the Brown Act limits the Board’s ability to respond to public comment. The Board may choose to direct items to the Administration for action or place an item on a future agenda.

Items listed under the Consent Agenda are considered to be routine and/or may have been discussed at a previous Board meeting. There is no discussion of these items prior to the Board vote unless a member of the Board, staff, or public requests specific items be discussed and/or removed from the Consent Agenda. Recommendation: (Cynthia Saxon) The administration recommends adoption of Certificated Assignment Order #13.

Recommendation: (Cynthia Saxon) The administration recommends adoption of Classified Assignment Order #13.

D. Out of State or Overnight Activities
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The Administration recommends that the Board approve the request as presented.

E. Approval of Division of State Architect (DSA) Inspector Contract – Community High School/David Avenue Project
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The Administration recommends that the Board authorize the execution of a contract for DSA Inspection Services with Cameron Edwards as proposed.

F. Approval of Contract for Designated Instruction and Services from Amy Walter, Speech Pathologist
Recommendation: (Cindy Gallo) Administration recommends that the Board approve this additional $2,000.00 for the speech therapy contract at the pre-school.

G. Revised Teacher Peer Review (Previous PAR) Budget
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The proposed Teacher Peer Review budget is, by design, within the projected resources available through this program and already budgeted.

IX. ACTION/DISCUSSION

20 mins A. Safety Plan Scope of Work, 2005/06
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry and Terrise Woods) The Superintendent recommends that the Board of Education approve the use of Safety Plan Dollars for the 2005/06 school year to fund the above scope of work.

10 mins B. Approval of Revisions to Pacific Grove Middle and High School 2005/06 Student/Parent Handbooks
Recommendation: (Jackie Tafoya, Todd Buller) The Administration recommends approval of the revised Pacific Grove Middle and High School Student Parents Handbooks for the 2005/06 school year.

5 mins C. Award of Community High School/David Avenue Remodel Contract
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The Administration recommends the Board award the contract for the Community High School/David Avenue to Baptista Construction and approve the appropriation of an additional $95,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund.

10 mins. D. 2004/05 General Fund Budget Review #4
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The District Administrator recommends approval of the proposed budget revisions as presented and provide direction on further revisions as appropriate.

10 mins. E. Revision of Board Policy 6146.1, First Reading - Granting of Honorary Diplomas
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Board consider the above information and direct Administration appropriately.

15 mins. F. Guidance (Career) Technician/Career Center
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Administration recommends that the Career Technician and Program be approved in concept and implemented in the fall after the State budget is adopted and the District’s property tax is updated in September.

15 mins. G. Food Services Report
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Board may take action regarding report recommendations noted in earlier presentation.

10 mins. H. Acceptance of Grant for Breaker Stadium All-Weather Tire Track
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The Administration recommends that the Board authorize acceptance of the grant with the condition that the Foundation will raise the required matching funds before work begins or any request for grant funds is made by the District.

5 mins. I. Board Calendar/Future Meetings
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Board review and possibly modify meeting dates on the attached calendar and determine, given information from the Administration, whether additional Board dates or modifications to the year long calendar need to be established.

Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Administration recommends that the Board review each request for a future agenda item form and that direction be supplied to the Administration with regard to placement of the agenda item on upcoming Board agendas.
