The Board of Education welcomes you to its meetings, which are regularly scheduled for the first and third Thursdays of the month. Regular Board Meetings shall be adjourned by 10:00 pm, unless extended to a specific time determined by a majority of the Board. This meeting may be extended no more than once and may be adjourned to a later date. Individuals who require special accommodation, including but not limited to an American sign language interpreter, accessible seating or documentation in accessible formats, should contact the Superintendent at least two days before the meeting date.

III. INDIVIDUALS DESIRING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD
Public comment on any item of interest to the public that is within the Board's jurisdiction will be heard. The Board may limit comments to no more than three (3) minutes for each agenda or non-agenda item; a total time for public input on each item is 20 minutes, pursuant to Board Policy 9323. Public comment will also be allowed on each specific action item prior to Board action thereon. This meeting of the Board of Education is a business meeting of the Board, conducted in public. Please note that the Brown Act limits the Board's ability to respond to public comment. The Board may choose to direct items to the Administration for action or place an item on a future agenda.

V. CONSENT AGENDA
Items listed under the Consent Agenda are considered to be routine and/or may have been discussed at a previous Board meeting. There is no discussion of these items prior to the Board vote unless a member of the Board, staff, or public requests specific items be discussed and/or removed from the Consent Agenda. Each item on the Consent Agenda approved by the Board of Trustees shall be deemed to have been considered in full and adopted as recommended.

A. Minutes of May 17, 2007 Board of Education Regular Meeting
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) Approval of minutes as presented.

B. Certificated Assignment Order #20
Recommendation: (Billie Mankey) The administration recommends adoption of
Certificated Assignment Order #20.

C. Approval of Contract for Services - North Monterey County Unified School District
for Summer School Study Program
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The Administration recommends that the Board
authorize the execution of contract for services with North Monterey County Unified
School District to provide a summer school program for Middle School students in
jeopardy of possible retention.

D. Approval of Contract with Visiting Nurse Association for Vision and Scoliosis
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The Administration recommends that the Board approve
the contract for Vision and Scoliosis Testing and Training Services wit VNA as proposed.

E. Acceptance of Donations
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The District Administration recommends that
the Board approve acceptance of the donations.

F. Warrant Schedule No. 464
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) As Assistant Superintendent for Business Services,
I certify that I have reviewed the attached warrants for consistency with the District's budget,
and purchasing and accounting practices and therefore, recommend Board approval.

G. Revolving Cash Report No. 10
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) As Assistant Superintendent for Business Services,
I have reviewed the Revolving Cash payments for consistency with District budget policy
and accounting practices and certify their consistency and recommend approval of the payments by the Board.

H. Cash Receipts Report No. 10
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) As Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, I have reviewed the receipt and deposit of the identified Cash Receipts for consistency with District policies and procedures and certify that the actions have been appropriately conducted. I recommend Board approval of the Cash Receipts.

I. District Libraries Evaluation Results and Year End Reports
Recommendation: (Carolyn Hawes) This is the District Libraries Evaluation and Year End Reports and explanation of a high school budget input item and no action needs to be taken
at this time.

J. Forest Grove School Plan for 2007-08
Recommendation: (Joe Bennett) Accept the School Plan which was adopted, reviewed and
voted on by the Forest Grove School Site Council.

K. 2007-2008 GATE Application
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the GATE application.

L. Contract for Services, Sarah Paff
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends that the Board approve
the Contract for Services with Sarah Paff.

M. Contract for Services, Diana Rookstool
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends that the Board approve
the Contract for Services with Diana Rookstool.

N. Adoption of Textbooks

1. Adoption of Social Science Textbook (K-5)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Pearson Scott Foresman adoption for the elementary level.

2. Adoption of English Language Development (ELD) Textbook - (6-12)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Hampton Brown adoption for the Pacific Grove Middle and High Schools.

3. Adoption of Biology Textbook (CHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Holt, Biology adoption for Community High School.

4. Adoption of Earth Science Textbook (CHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Holt, Earth Science adoption for Community High School.

5. Adoption of World History Textbook (CHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Holt, Human Legacy, The Modern World (California Versions) adoption for
Community High School.

6. Adoption of U.S. History Textbook (CHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Holt, American Anthem:, Modern American History, 2007 adoption for Community
High School.

7. Adoption of Government Textbook (CHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Holt, Civics in Practice: Principles of Government and Economics, 2007 adoption
for Community High School.

8. Adoption of Geography Textbook (CHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Teachers' Curriculum Institute, Geography Alive! Regions and People adoption for Community High School.

9. Adoption of Geometry Textbook (CHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
McDougal Littell, Geometry Concepts and Skills adoption for Community High School.

10. Adoption of Pre-calculus Textbook (PGHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Pearson Prentice Hall adoption for Pacific Grove High School.

11. Adoption of AP Biology Textbook (PGHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Pearson Benjamin Cummings adoption for Pacific Grove High School.

12. Adoption of Fire Science Textbook (PGHS)
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the
Pearson Benjamin Cummings adoption for Pacific Grove High School.

O. Adoption of Scientifically-based Substance Abuse Prevention Programs, Elementary
and Secondary Levels
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving Too Good for Drugs at the elementary level and Project Toward No Drug Abuse at the secondary level.

P. Pacific Grove High School Student and Parent Handbook
Recommendation: (Todd Buller) Approve the changes to the 2007-08 High School
handbook.

Q. Pacific Grove Middle School Student and Parent Handbook
Recommendation: (Matt Bell) Approve the changes to the 2007-08 Middle
School handbook.

R. Robert Down School Student and Parent Handbook
Recommendation: (Linda Williams) Approve the changes to the Robert Down School
handbook.

B. Review of Robert Down SIP Survey
Recommendation: (Linda Williams) To determine whether additional action should be
taken with any critical issue identified as impacting the delivery of the elementary
educational program.

C. Rescind Policy 5112.5 - Closed Campus
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) Provide Administration with direction regarding a policy
and regulations for open campus.

VII. ACTION/DISCUSSION

A. Construction Project Manager
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Board of Education consider employment of a Construction Project Manager for Measure D projects and supply Administration with direction.

B. Superintendent Employment Contract
Recommendation: (Mike Niccum) The Board of Education employ Ralph Gómez Porras as Superintendent of Schools for the term of four years and authorize the Board President to sign the Employment Contract.

C. Approval of 2008-09 School Calendar
Recommendation: (Billie Mankey) The Administration recommends that the Board choose
one of the two calendars proposed as the 2008-09 school calendar.

D. Board Calendar/Future Meetings
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Board review and possibly modify meeting dates
on the attached calendar and determine, given information from the Administration, whether additional Board dates or modifications to the year long calendar need to be established.

E. Future Agenda Items
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Administration recommends that the Board review
each request for a future agenda item form and that direction be supplied to the Administration with regard to placement of the agenda item on upcoming Board agendas.
