The Board of Education welcomes you to its meetings, which are regularly scheduled for the first and third Thursdays of the month. Regular Board Meetings shall be adjourned by 10:00 pm, unless extended to a specific time determined by a majority of the Board. This meeting may be extended no more than once and may be adjourned to a later date. V. INDIVIDUALS DESIRING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD
Public comment on any item of interest to the public that is within the Board’s jurisdiction will be heard. The Board may limit comments to no more than three (3) minutes for each agenda or non-agenda item; a total time for public input on each item is 20 minutes, pursuant to Board Policy 9323. Public comment will also be allowed on each specific action item prior to Board action thereon. This meeting of the Board of Education is a business meeting of the Board, conducted in public. Please note that the Brown Act limits the Board’s ability to respond to public comment. The Board may choose to direct items to the Administration for action or place an item on a future agenda.

Recommendation: (Billie Mankey) The administration recommends adoption of
Certificated Assignment Order #8.

F. Adoption of History/Social Science Textbooks, Grades 6-8
Recommendation (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approving the Teachers’ Curriculum Institute adoption for Pacific Grove Middle School.

G. Approval of (New) Board Policy and Regulations 6112 - Instructional Minutes
Recommendation (Kris Stejskal) The Administration recommends approval of Board Policy and Administrative Regulations 6112 as revised after the October 26, 2006 Board meeting.

H. Acceptance of Quarterly Treasury Report
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The Administration recommends that the Board accept the
report as submitted by the County Treasurer.

I. Warrant Schedule No. 456
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) As Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, I certify
that I have reviewed the attached warrants for consistency with the District’s budget, and purchasing and accounting practices and therefore, recommend Board approval.

J. Revolving Cash Report No. 3
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) As Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, I have reviewed the Revolving Cash payments for consistency with District budget policy and accounting practices and certify their consistency and recommend approval of the payments by the Board.

K. Cash Receipts Report No. 3
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) As Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, I have reviewed the receipt and deposit of the identified Cash Receipts for consistency with District policies and procedures and certify that the actions have been appropriately conducted. I recommend Board approval of the Cash Receipts.

L. Approval of Revision 1 of PG High School Single School Plan
Recommendation (Stan Dodd) The administration recommends that the Board approve the revised allocation of SIP funds within the Single School Plan as proposed.

M. Honorary Diploma for WWII-Impacted Student
Recommendation (Stan Dodd) The Board approve recognition of a Pacific Grove High School student receiving an honorary diploma.

N. Approval of Settlement Agreement for Special Education Student
Recommendation: (Cindy Gallo) The Board consider the attached settlement agreement
with regards to providing tutoring to an autistic student living within the Pacific Grove
Unified School district, while enrolled in the Monterey county home Charter School Program.

O. Addition of ROP First Responder Course Certification (Beginning Spring Semester 06-07)
Recommendation: (Stan Dodd, Fred Rubin) The Administration recommends that the Board
approve the ROP class, First Responder, to provide introductions to other health vocations and information for advanced training interests.

P. Mock Trial Extracurricular Credit
Recommendation (Stan Dodd) The Administration recommends that the Board approve
Mock Trial be an activity (a club, not a course) that earns extracurricular credit.

B. Rescind BP 6020, Consider (New) BP/AR 6020 and Revise BP/AR 6171 – First Reading
Recommendation: (Kris Stejskal) Administration recommends a first reading to: 1) rescind the current Board Policy #6020; 2) consider new Board Policy and Administrative Regulation #6020;
and 3) consider revisions to Board Policy and Administrative Regulation #6171.

C. Actuarial Study of Retirement Health Liabilities
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) No specific action is required at this time. Within the budget development process a decision will need to be made concerning whether the Board wants to continue to fund retiree health benefits on a “pay as you go” basis or whether they want to start funding the unfunded liability.

IX. ACTION/DISCUSSION

A. Pacific Grove Community High School Course Descriptions for Algebra 1 and Geometry
Recommendation: (Stan Dodd, Brad Woodyard) Pacific Grove Community High School
recommends approval of the Algebra 1 and Geometry Course Descriptions.

B. Resolution No. 793, Reduction of Classified School Services
Recommendation: (Billie Mankey) The Administration recommends Board approval of
Resolution No. 793 in order to reduce classified staffing at the two elementary Before and
After School Recreation Program sites due to lack of work and funds.

C. Revision of Policy and Regulations 6145 - Extracurricular and Co-Curricular Activities,
Third Reading
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Board of Education review the suggested revisions noted by Administration, offer direction and approval if appropriate.

D. Sunset Drive Improvements
Recommendation: (Robin Blakley) The Administration recommends that the Board indicate
their support for the proposed reconfiguration of the Sunset Drive traffic flows per the CalTrans proposal and also support the City of Pacific Grove in the possible revision of the 19th St. crosswalk to make it a safer situation.

E. Resolution #795 to Approve Student Board Member Motions
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Board review and adopt Resolution #795.

F. Board Calendar/Future Meetings
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Board review and possibly modify meeting dates on
the attached calendar and determine, given information from the Administration, whether additional Board dates or modifications to the year long calendar need to be established.

G. Future Agenda Items
Recommendation: (Patrick Perry) The Administration recommends that the Board review each
request for a future agenda item form and that direction be supplied to the Administration with
regard to placement of the agenda item on upcoming Board agendas.
