The City of Pacific
Grove is located on the tip of the Monterey Peninsula on the
central California coast. It lies between Pebble Beach and
the City of Monterey,
121 miles south of San Francisco, and 334 miles north of Los Angeles.
Pacific Grove enjoys a year round temperate climate with many
recreational opportunities including a number of golf courses, the Monterey Bay Aquarium
and miles of shoreline with beaches and rocky outcrops.
Pacific Grove is
a residential community with some commercial
development. The economy is primarily related to tourism and local
services. The District is held in high regard by its community.
Community members are proud of their school system and are devoted to
maintaining its excellence. The California State University, Monterey Bay, a new
addition to our area, opened in the fall of 1995.THE DISTRICT
The District serves a population of approximately 1,650 students in
five schools:
Pacific Grove is a Basic Aid district
and operates nine
separate funds totaling approximately $32,000,000.
There is currently an additional reconstruction bond fund of
approximately $42,000,000.
The District's General Fund operating budget is about $23,600,000.
