Minutes of the Meeting of December 11, 2003

The Board of Education of the Pacific Grove Unified School District held a meeting on December 11, 2003, at the Pacific Grove High School Library.
I. OPENING BUSINESS

A. Call to Order: 7:00 p.m.

B. Roll Call: Members Present: Beth Shammas
Jessie Bray
Mark Cameron
Richard Schramm

Administrator Present: Patrick Perry, Superintendent

C. Pledge of Allegiance: Recited

D. Adoption of Agenda: MOTION (Schramm/Bray) to adopt agenda. Motion CARRIED 4 to 0.

II. ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

A. Oath of Office: Superintendent Bill Barr
Rich Schramm and Mike Niccum completed the Oath of Office.

B. Election of President to Serve for a One-Year Period:
MOTION (Schramm) to elect Beth Shammas, President. Motion CARRIED 5 to 0.
Board Action: Beth Shammas, President

C. Election of Vice-President/Clerk to Serve for a One-Year Period:
MOTION (Niccum) to elect Rich Schramm, Vice President. Motion CARRIED 5 to 0.
Board Action: Rich Schramm, Vice President

D. Determination of Dates, Time and Location for Regular Meetings
MOTION (Bray/Schramm). Motion CARRIED 5 to 0.
Motion made to have 1st and 3rd Thursday meetings at the Pacific Grove High School library and to add
January 8th and 29th as meetings.

E. Authorization of Signatures Resolution No. 727
MOTION (Bray/Niccum) to approve resolution 727. Motion CARRIED 5 to 0.

F. Designation of Committee Representatives:
Community Human Services: Walter Kraus
City/District: Jessie Bray, Mike Niccum
Negotiations: PGTA - Jessie Bray, CSEA – Beth Shammas, Alternate – Mark Cameron

IV. STUDY SESSION – BOARD MEMBERS
Monterey County Office of Education Superintendent Bill Barr addressed the Board of Education.
Topics covered were boardsmanship and governance team.
