The Board of Education of the Pacific Grove Unified School District held a meeting on April 27, 2000 in the District Office Conference Room.

1. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 5:03 pm by Beth Shammas

2. Roll Call:
Members Present
Beth Shammas
Jessie Bray
Rod Herndon
Debi Page (arrived at 5:30 pm)

Member absent: David Campbell

Administrator Present: Jack Marchi, Superintendent

3. INDIVIDUALS DESIRING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD:
Jerry Norton commented that the state of California is 51st in the nation as to the number of counselors in schools.

4. STUDY SESSION:
Counseling: Discussion and input was obtained regarding the needs for counseling and psychological services in the District. A second meeting will be scheduled to continue to obtain input.
Budget: A discussion of the Tentative Budget was not held.
MOTION (Page) to move the Tentative Budget discussion to the regular Board meeting to be held on May 4, 2000. SECOND (Herndon). Motion CARRIED 4 to 0, Campbell absent.

Open Session closed at 7:02 p.m.

5. RECONVENE IN CLOSED SESSION:
a. Discussion of pending litigation with District's attorneys.

6. Report Action Taken in Closed Session: None.

7. ADJOURNMENT: The Board adjourned at 8:24 pm
