PGUSD/PGTA Negotiations

Joint Communiqué 10/10/2006

The parties met on September 29th and October 5th, 2006. The topics included:
(1) scope of PGTA representation,
(2) budget presentation, and
(3) compensation.

(1)The parties generated interests and options regarding teachers working in a job role that may have them completing management functions. The parties also discussed the inclusion of a class of employees within the unit.

(2)Received a budget presentation regarding management recommendations for new/restoration expenditures for the 06-07 school year (see attached 948K PDF). PGTA expressed their concerns about adopting the additional expenditures prior to reaching a contractual agreement. The District stated that it realizes its obligations to a successful negations settlement but also wants to continue the business of the District.

(3)The parties worked on the process of determining options/standards related to compensation.

The next meeting is scheduled for October 25, 2006. The agenda items are:
(1) compensation,
(2) scope of representation,
(3) stipends,
(4) evaluations
