A LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

A LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

Portrait shot of the Superintendent
It is my pleasure to serve as the Pacific Grove Unified School District’s Superintendent and to welcome you as a Partner in Excellence. I am immensely proud to work alongside our world class educators who provide all of our students exceptional learning opportunities to acquire and apply the knowledge and skills that develop the insight and character necessary for a productive and rewarding life.

This comes, not by chance, but through a commitment to academic achievement, enrichment activities, a focus on social-emotional well-being, effective instruction and leadership, optimized resources, well-maintained facilities, and an engaged community.

Our efforts in Cultural Proficiency and focus on Equity include teaching all students to acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to interact, negotiate, and communicate with people from diverse groups.

In my 16 years as Superintendent in PGUSD it has been an honor to participate with all our staff, certificated and classified, regardless of the position in which they serve, to make a positive difference in the lives of our students. Whether it is our bus drivers, custodians, food service or office staff who are often the first to greet pupils early in the morning, the classroom teachers and their support staff who guide their instructional and social progress, or our administrators who work to create positive school site cultures for everyone, we are a team of leaders dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of all our students. As you may know, at sea level, 211° water remains a very hot liquid, but heat it up just one notch to 212° and it boils, changing its entire state of matter to vapor. That 1° makes all the difference! We are challenging ourselves as staff members at PGUSD to each find and exert that 1° to benefit every child.

Every day brings new experiences and new joy. We eagerly anticipate the wonders that the next day will bring for our students, their families and our staff.

With Kind Regards,

Ralph Gómez Porras, Ed, D
